Perennial, grows 30-175cm tall with solitary stems. Many composite heads in dense pyramidal clusters. Sometimes sticky glandular blooms into fall. low to mid elevations. Found on roadsides, disturbed areas, gravelly riversides and forest openings. Will self seed and very prolific spreader.
The Nlaka'pmx and Okanagan used the stems and flowerheads to make tea to fight against diarrhea, especially for babies, Tea was also used to bathe colicky babies.
