Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow

Amid the bustle and rush of the Christmas Holidays it is a great time to take a break and go for a stroll around the Lower Spawning Channels. The Pink and Coho salmon eggs are incubating in the channel gravels while many other creatures are on the winter prowl above the water. The recent dusting of snow provided a blank chalkboard for the critters to draw and sketch out their daily explorations. A great bald eagle is hanging around perhaps eyeing up the small flocks of wary mallards that are resting in the channels. The pitter patter patterns of miniature prints of mice, raccoon, beaver and coyote string their way around and across the channel’s berms, not to mention the impressive mark of the Great Blue Heron. Make your way around the channels, hang out at the bird blind and end your stroll with a visit to the cozy Splitrock office and perhaps finish that stocking stuffer list with a few local crafts while enjoying some conversation and seasonal treats. The Spawning Channel is always open to anyone and everyone who wants to come enjoy the beautiful sights that Lillooet has to offer. The office will also be open up until Dec 24th from 10-4 Eagle on Snag IMG_6818 IMG_6819 IMG_6839 IMG_6846 IMG_6847 IMG_6852
