Seed Collection

One Important job here a Splitrock is Seed Collection. We collect all of our seeds within 20-50 Kms. from where they are going to be planted out.

Here is John, Felicia and Chrissy out Carpentor Resevour  collecting Lakeshore Sedge and Bluejoint grass seeds.

After the Lakeshore Sedge plant is collected it is placed in a bin to be dried. Once it is dried the seeds drop off.

the seed is then put into jars and then stored in our cool seed room until ready for planting.

After all of that hard work of going out onto land to collect the seed, drying it then planting and watering we end up with beautiful plants ready to be brought back onto the land where there has been industrial impacts.
